PROFILE

“I learned street photography the hard way; I am also mostly self-taught. While working in Singapore back in 2011, I discovered that its streets are the perfect studio, figuratively and creatively — to destress and to practice a new hobby I had picked up photography. When I returned to Manila, I mustered the discipline to sustain the growing interest.”

Oliver is a Filipino and an electrical sales manager who branched out into street photography as, initially a lifestyle remedy to an intense workplace and now, a lifelong passion. With thousands of walking miles tucked in his belt and quite a good sum invested, especially during his earlier years of gear lust, Oliver is now settled, in his element.

Oliver’s photographic works have been featured in both local and international publications like Leica Fotografie International (LFI) and recognized in local exhibits and reputable international photography competitions like the Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA) and HIPA, to name a few.

Oliver believes that it takes unending patience, zeal, and time to master a craft. In time, one’s interest becomes the person. In his case, his fascination for capturing candid moments in the streets of wherever his feet take him, whether for work, vacation, or self-time is not just a whimsical passing fancy but now a discipline, an alter ego of sorts.

Manila, an enigma to some, is Oliver’s go-to arena for his street photography.

Oliver is a student of photography and continuously learns other genres particularly travel and documentary photography using his trusted tool, a Leica camera.
