Why I Choose A Leica M-P 240 in 2021?

When Leica Store Manila offered a 30% discount for a new Leica M-P 240 and your choice of the lens back in February 2021, I just couldn't resist the itch of getting my hands into one of these well-engineered cameras even though I already have a couple of Leica cameras. I had my Leica Q-P way back in December 2018 and in February 2020, I also bought a collector's item Leica CL Bauhaus 150/150 unit packaged with the ultra-sharp 18mm F2.8 Elmarit-TL. For my new M-P 240, I decided to couple it with the underrated 50 F2.4 Summarit as the iconic Summilux version is just way out of my budget.
To dress up the M-P 240, I requested my daughter to purchase for me a thumb grip in Amazon Canada for around CAD45, and then I also bought a silver/black shutter button at a local online camera shop for around USD7 or PHP380. The ergonomics of adding these accessories have vastly improved especially the way you secure the camera in your hand provided by the thumb grip. The shutter button makes pressing the shutter more instantaneous and you won’t miss a shot. Best of all, the looks of my Leica M-P 240 rocks!

Talking about the 50 mm F2.4 Summarit, these lenses are so underrated that Leica decided to discontinue the production some years back as sales are not as good as they had expected. It is well known in the Leica world that the Summilux is the holy grail among all lenses but the Summarit can hold its own. Shooting wide open at F2.4 is vignette-free and very sharp from center to corners. Stopping it down and your image is razor-sharp.
Last May 1, I was able to finally use this combo during a 2-day vacation with my siblings and our families. We went to a man-made Caliraya lake in Laguna province to enjoy the tranquility of nature and have some fun with the boat ride and zip line. The colors Leica M-P 240 is somewhat different compared to my Leica Q-P and Leica CL as the colors are richer and less digital looking. It is as if my camera is always loaded with a Kodachrome film which I like.
I included a few images of our vacation and I hope you will appreciate all the images. Cheers!
